In March 1928 Salvador Dalí, the art critic Sebastià Gasch and the literary critic Lluís Montanyà published The Yellow Manifesto also known as Catalan Anti-artistic manifesto. This document became one of the most important actions in Catalan (as well as Spanish) avant-garde culture. It attacked classist culture and favoured a new modernity. The Yellow Manifesto is the clearest and bluntest exponent of the debate between tradition and modernity, localism and universalism, which is present in the Catalan culture in the 1920s and 30s. The documentary starts with a historical analysis of the value and the meaning of the repercussions of this manifesto, and asks why it seems that today in-depth criticism of culture has disappeared, or has become an interplay of interests.
